Multimedia presentation: The Story Teller Press creates and distributes multimedia versions of traditional novels, photo-art collections and graphic arts on CD-ROM. Using modern browser technology these books on CD-ROM contain true color graphics, sound effects and animations to highlight the original story. The audience: Unless otherwise indicated works published by The Story Teller Press are written for a general audience. Our latest releases: Battledore and Shuttlecock is a 76,000 word adventure novel plotted in 1922. The work is written in the tradition of Talbot Mundy and H. Rider Haggard - in modern form and at a quicker pace. It spans across the Orient from San Francisco and Honolulu, to Yokohama and Shanghai. The protagonists are the American heir to the trading house and a Brit raised in the East and son of a commercial attaché. They, while traveling for their trading house, encounter a bank robber, a shipboard con game, a shifty minister who heads a gang of gun runners, a secret society assassination plot, and a tong war. Floralia contains 200 royalty free, low resolution (72 to 300 dpi) uncompressed Tagged Image Files (TIF), and their corresponding JPEG thumbnails. These images are divided into flower, fungi, and scenic background categories. Each category is represented by a HTML page containing the image thumbnails, file names and dpi. The author: James S. Hiller, the author of four novels, has lived and traveled in much of the region spanned by the novel. He is a student of history and a member of PHI ALPHA THETA - a national historical society. All of Jim's works are painstakingly researched. In Battledore and Shuttlecock he accurately describes the locations, dress and mannerisms of the period. Many of the adventures in the novel are taken from the lore of the traveled area. The photographer and the artist: Linda Oster is a book illustrator extraordinaire! Her true color art work both highlights and enhances the original story line. Linda is also responsible for most of the animation in Battledore and Shuttlecock. Linda's royalty free photo-art collection (Floralia) is made to order for screen presentations, backgrounds and photo manipulations. Beautiful low resolution images of flowers, fungi and scenic backgrounds. Linda creates her illustrations using a number of graphics packages which include: Adobe’s PhotoShop, Illustrator and MetaCreations’ Painter.
